GAWS 3rd Annual Golf Day: A Resounding Success!
On November 22, 2024, GAWS (Grabouw Animal Welfare Society) proudly hosted its 3rd annual Golf Day at the beautiful Strand Golf Course. The yearly event is a key fundraiser to support GAWS’ ongoing animal welfare projects in the local Grabouw community. This year’s Golf Day was proudly sponsored and made possible by the support of three lead sponsors: D&E, Crawford Steele and ourselves, EarthPet – Eco-friendly, dignified farewells. These contributions played a vital role in making the day a reality.
The 84 enthusiastic players enjoyed a range of refreshments and treats, thanks to five dedicated hole sponsors: Kennels for a Cause, Hop on Shuttles, Harcourts, The Moorings, and NTT VW. The glorious weather only added to the overall enjoyment, creating the perfect atmosphere for a fantastic day on the course.
Congratulations to the winners, Indy Jacobson and Wolfgang Briedert, who showcased remarkable skill and sportsmanship.
We are thrilled to announce that the event raised an incredible R74,000! These funds will go directly towards caring for kennel dogs, ensuring they receive the love and support they need until they find their forever homes. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated. Your contributions make a real difference in the lives of the animals we serve!

EarthPet AWARE Foundation NPC are proud to have been part of this important event. We had an EarthPet stand on the day also to show our fleet of vehicles, including our unique horse trailer. ANNIE our mascot from the AWARE Foundation NPC came along to charm visitors. Our pet beds were also introduced for the first time. These pet beds are highly durable made from geotextile with a soft inner. Contact EarthPet directly to order them at admin@earthpet.co.za. GAWS plans to host the golf day annually, contingent on the support they receive. EarthPet, through the AWARE Foundation NPC, will strive to encourage attendance and sponsorships, as successfully achieved this year.
